Qunut Nazilah

Ya Allah, kami letakkan Engkau di batang leher musuh kami, dan kami berlindung denganMu dari kejahatan mereka. Ya Allah leburkan kumpulan mereka, kacau-bilaukan kesatuan mereka, cerai-beraikan pakatan mereka, goncangkan pendirian mereka, hantarkan anjing Engkau ke atas mereka. Wahai Tuhan yang gagah perkasa, wahai Tuhan yang penuh raksasa, wahai Tuhan yang bersifat murka. Ya Allah. Wahai Tuhan yang menurunkan Al-Quran, wahai Tuhan yang mengarakkan awan, wahai Tuhan yang menewaskan bala tentera Al-Ahzab, kalahkan mereka, menangkanlah kami ke atas mereka.

The Prophet and the People who Opposed him

Bleeding from head to toe, battered and exhausted, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was faced with a choice. Should he or should he not seek to destroy the people who had just humiliated him by having their children chase him out of town while throwing stones at him? And what was his crime? All he wanted to do was to share his message and seek to benefit his people.

Gentleness

Gentleness is the best quality that one can have; on the authority of A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, the Prophet (PBUH) said, “O A’ishah! Show gentleness, for if gentleness is found in anything, it beautifies it and when it is taken out from anything it damages it.” (Sunan Abu Dawud)

When you meet people, greet them with gentle talk and a smiling face, because these are the attributes of the believer, like bee which eats sweet things and creates sweet things (honey), and if they land on a flower they do not break it. Allah (SWT) rewards His servants more for gentleness than violence.

On the authority of A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, the Prophet (PBUH) said, “Be gentle and calm, O A’ishah, as Allah likes gentleness in all affairs.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Tawakkal

It is examination season. Everybody is busy studying and revising what has been taught to them over the course of the academic year. For the hardworking ones, it is all about revisiting all those neural connections which they have established upon first encountering the syllabus content. For the less fortunate, this period is a frantic combination of some revising and a lot of learning. After all, most of the content is new material to them. No matter the state one is in, one fact stands out; that everyone is hard at work.

Candy and Vinegar

Once upon a time, there were two shops. One was selling candy and the other – vinegar. Between the two shop owners there was intense rivalry.

The vinegar shop was a great success compared to the one selling candy. Every single customer who visited the vinegar shop would always come out of it with ‘gallons’ of vinegar while the customers of the candy shop would come out empty handed.

This imbalance went on for awhile until one day, the candy seller decided to close down the shop. Feeling disgruntled and perplexed at the same time, he said to himself: “I just can’t leave in this state. I must go down to the vinegar shop and ask the vinegar seller the reason for the secret of his success.”

Harapan kaum adam terhadapmu menggunung tinggi. Pastinya dari fitrah setiap adam yang waras, mereka menginginkan wanita-wanita yang mampu memimpin keluarga, yang mampu membentuk generasi agar zuriat yang lahir adalah yang terbaik. Mampu juga berganding bahu mentadbir alam ini kerana kita saling lengkap-melengkapi. Namun, kesediaan puteriku sekalian menjadi wanita yang mampu memimpin generasi amatlah bergantung kepada kesibukan kamu yang sebenarnya. Kiranya kalian tergolong yang sibuk dengan urusan puteri-puteri yang aku maksudkan tadi, maka jauhlah impian dari kenyataan.

The Story of Barseesa

Barseesa was a man from the Children of Israel who was a worshiper – a very famous worshiper; an ‘aabid. He had his temple and he devoted himself to worship in his monastery.

Three men from the Children of Israel wanted to go out for jihad in a ghazwah (battle). They had a sister. They didn’t know where to leave her sister, so they said: “Where should we leave her? We can’t leave her alone, should we leave her?” They asked around and they decided that the best place to leave her is with that ‘aabid, the worshiper since he’s the most righteous person and most trustworthy. They’d leave their sister with him and he’ll take care of her.

They went to the ‘aabid, the worshiper, Barseesa. They explained to him the situation that they wanted to go out for the ghazwah and would he please take care of their sister? He said: “I seek refuge to Allah SWT from you, stay away from me!”

Dari Shuhaib Ar-Rumi r.a., bahwasanya Rasulullah SAW bersabda:

“Ada seorang raja pada zaman sebelum kalian. Ia memiliki seorang tukang sihir. Ketika tukang sihir itu telah tua, ia berkata kepada sang raja, ‘Sesungguhnya usiaku telah tua dan ajalku telah dekat. Karena itu, utuslah kepadaku seorang anak muda agar aku ajari sihir’. Maka diutuslah seorang pemuda yang kemudian ia ajari sihir. Dan jalan antara raja dengan tukang sihir itu terdapat seorang rahib. Pemuda itu mendatangi sang rahib dan mendengarkan pembicaraannya. Sang pemuda begitu kagum kepada rahib dan pembicaraannya.
